Taveuni Beaches

There are a number of beautiful beaches on the island. Many are located in the northern part of the island near the Taveuni Airport. Known as the Matei region it also is home to many of the accommodation providers on the island, including resorts, villa and Homestay accommodation. On the eastern side of the islands there are also more white sandy beaches near the Bouma National Park. The beach near the village of Levena is an ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Rainbow Reef Taveuni Fiji Islands

One of Fiji's most famous diving attractions is the Rainbow Reef, situated just off the east coast of Vanua Levu and with in a short boat ride of the resorts and dive operators on Taveuni. The reef has many dive sites such as the 'Great White Wall'. It is also know for having some of the best soft coral in the Fiji Islands.

Taveuni Bird Watching

Because of Taveuni's protected status, limited land clearance, and the absence of the mongoose, Taveuni is home to more indigenous Fijian plants and animals, including native birds, than anywhere else in Fiji. Des Voeux Peak is home to silktails, ferntails, kula parrots, orange breasted doves and wild chickens.


Bouma National Heritage Park

the Bouma National Heritage Park is pristine, with trails to three spectacular waterfalls surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. Just beyond Bouma, the Lavena Coastal Walk is an easy stroll along the beach. Also part of the park are the Waitabu Marine Park, Vidawa Rainforest Hike and the Tavoro Bouma Waterfalls.

Lake Tagimoucia Taveuni

Lake Tagimoucia fills one of Taveuni's extinct craters, and is home to the rare Tagimoucia flower, Fiji's national flower.

Taveuni's International 180' Meridian

One of Taveuni's longest standing attractions is that the island is disected by the 180' meridian. The date line hits the coast of Taveuni just south of the Garden Island Resort.
