There are a number of beautiful beaches on the island. Many are located in the northern part of the island near the Taveuni Airport. Known as the Matei region it also is home to many of the accommodation providers on the island, including resorts, villa and Homestay accommodation. On the eastern side of the islands there are also more white sandy beaches near the Bouma National Park. The beach near the village of Levena is an ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
